LIVING IN THE LATTER GLORY
SERMON TOPIC: Living in the Latter Glory
BIBLE TEXT: Haggai 2: 1-9
Key Verse 9 “ The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts”.
God, the Omniscient (All-knowing) spoke through prophet Haggai asking His people to compare between the wonders of the temple built by King Solomon and how it was after it has been destroyed by the Chaldeans who invaded Israel, leading them into captivity. Thus, nicknaming it “ the former glory”, and also promised to restore and improve its beauty to become “ the latter glory”.
Life at times present itself as a traumatic drama, whereby one finds himself celebrating today for one reason, and tomorrow sobbing for another. Just like the case of the Israelites in 1 kings Chapter 8, after completing and dedicating the historical, recording-breaking temple, they spent two-weeks celebrating ( 1 kings 8:65), but the reverse occurred in 2 Kings Chapter 24, when King Nebuchadnezzar with the Chaldeans forces besieged Jerusalem, and led them into slavery, thus emptying the entire nation of her treasures (2 Kings 24:13). What a sorrowful situation it was.
However, living in the latter glory is simply accepting, believing and dwelling in the truth that God is able to make all things beautiful in His time ( Ecclesiastes 3:11) ; it is walking in the reality that no matter the level of challenge life presents, or the devil throws at you, God is still at work perfecting all that concerns you (Psalm 138:8), to bring back the joy you once had, making it whole again (Joel 2:25).
Beloved in the Lord, have you lost the hope of getting back to the top , after finding yourself fall through the scripts of life’s traumatic drama, either in your family, marriage, job, career, academics, business, ministry or relationships, and all doesn't seem to be working after several attempts? Don’t back down, but look up to God, for He is still alive and have you in His plan for good (Rom 8:28).
Remember our key-verse Haggai 2:9 “ The future splendor of this temple will be greater than the splendor of the first one! For I have plenty of silver and gold to do it! And here I will give peace, says the Lord” (The Living Bible Translation).
God Bless You and wishing you a fruitful month ahead.
